V egyptské Gíze v blízkosti velkých pyramid má stát největší egyptologické muzeum
na světě. Patrně největší architektonická soutěž na světě byla loni vypsána
na projekt Velkého egyptského muzea. Mezi 2500 registrovanými účastníky ze 105

Architekt MARTIN ROUBÍK (53) se vymyká ustáleným představám o architektech -
klidných, decentních mužích trávících život nad rýsovacím prknem. Roubík působí
velmi živelně, chová se bezprostředně, vyzařuje sebevědomí, které je podloženo
dlouholetými zkušenostmi z projektování v zahraničí. V Norsku založil s několika
kamarády architektonickou kancelář Snohetta, která senzačně zvítězila v mezinárodní
soutěži na stavbu rozsáhlé knihovny v Alexandrii. Snad žádný jiný český architekt
se podobným způsobem v tak významné otevřené soutěži neprosadil. Na konci devadesátých
let se vrátil do Prahy, kde učí na fakultě architektury Českého vysokého učení
technického. Ačkoliv se mu "venku" dařilo, doma - zdá se - nemá na
růžích ustláno. Říká: "S kolegyní Reginou Loukotovou jsme se zúčastnili
za poslední dva roky nejméně deseti soutěží, ale nemáme z toho nic, ani korunu,
protože jsme žádnou zakázku nezískali." >>> celý

Soutěž na návrh muzea umístěného hned vedle světoznámých pyramid v Gize, musea
stojícího na 50 hektarech pozemku, stavby která bude stát 350 miliónů dolarů,
soutěž kterou 4. února oficiálně vyhlásil egyptský president Hosni Mubarak má

S tímto fatálním poznáním se v pondělí 23. června 2003 vrátil z Egypta architekt
Martin Roubík. Zatímco podle jeho slov návrhy oceněné na prvních místech by
mohly stejně tak dobře být situovány v jiných koutech světa a najít jiné využití,
naproti tomu úspěšný návrh českého týmu by kdekoliv jinde na světě mohl působit
směšně. Právě kontext návrhu s jedinečností místa a situování budovy hlavně
pod zem jsou nejsilnějšími myšlenkami projektu a poutají na sebe pozornost jak
návštěvníků výstavy soutěžních návrhů, tak i vládních představitelů Egypta.
